I am currently a student at City College Norwich, studying Level 3 Games Design & Development. I'm almost at the end of my first year of my two year course.
So far, I have created three projects:
1. 2D Game Design, 6-8 weeks. I created a 2D platformer around the theme of "power". I produced a basic prototype with basic movement mechanics and traps. I used this time to get a hang of game development and Unreal Engine.
2. 3D Game Design, 6-8 weeks. I created a 3D movement-based zombie shooter around the theme of "encounter". Working in a team of 4, we produced a fully finished prototype. I worked on development, spending a lot of time doing the weapons, zombie AI, movement and more. We did one playtest and it had a positive outcome. You can find the project here: https://pwotato.itch.io/neuropocalypse
3. Major (Final) Project, 12-15 weeks. We worked with the Sainsbury Centre (museum) to create a game using/incorporating the artifacts/items that were on display there. I created a 3D peaceful adventure fishing game, where you can fish up different fish and items/artifacts and set sail and explore the world. I spent close to 200 hours on this. There were 3 playtests over a week; I got very positive feedback which I then used to improve the user experience and polish it. You can find the project here: https://pwotato.itch.io/tides-of-treasure
4. New Anglia Game Jam, 1 week. Me and 3 of my classmates took part in a regional 1 week game jam (New Anglia) using the theme of "Transference". We created a simple point-and-click idle game about caring for and growing a dandelion. Fend from insects, upgrade your garden, and watch your flower bloom. I worked on the development of this game, which was hard to do but was able to produce a working prototype that received positive feedback. You can find the game here: https://iamrocket.itch.io/petal-by-petal
My plan for the future:
Focus on my game design skills, such as 2D art, UI design, characters, UX (User Experience), story/lore, with maybe some 3D modelling and animation.
Attend NUA (Norwich University of the Arts) and take a 3 year games design (or development) course.
Get a job in the games industry, either with an indie or a larger studio
